POLL RESULTS

The poll is now closed. Thank you for voting! Sorry for the slight delay, we wanted to give everyone a fair shot to get in their thoughts.

The result is: Canon characters will be allowed to play in the game beginning on October 29th!

The profile, FAQ and other sections have been rewritten to reflect this.

Canon characters may be applied for now, but they cannot play in the game until October 29th.

Plot starts on the 22nd!
The plot will begin sometime on the 22nd and will run over a week! Feel free to post normally during the upcoming events, as well as making your own posts reacting to what's happening,



A change to the death system!

What happens if my character dies in game?
Your character wakes up on Derse or Prospit! If they don't have a dreamself, then the glitch brings them back in from their dead bubble... But the way back involves a lot of horrorterror interaction! Your character might get a little traumatized on the way back, it's up to player preference how badly.



We also have a new official announcement plurk! It will mirror mod announcements, as well as announcing things like memes posted to [livejournal.com profile] kidsandfun.

The mod journal's Friends page can still be accessed for easy viewing of all communities and character journals.

Mixt produced for us a new icon! You can see it on the moderator accounts, including the communities.

Hello, everyone! We have a poll we'd like all existing, current players in this game to answer: Whether to allow canon characters. That is to say, non-AU'd, normal versions of the canon kids, trolls and other characters.

- The 'first rungs of the echeladder' will still be in effect. Even canonical god-tier characters will have their powers bought down to the start.
- Multiple versions of the same canon character may exist.
- This will not allow SBURB-versions of other canons. Lion King characters will not be appable, for example.
- The application currently available will remain unchanged.

Only players currently in the game may vote. One vote per player. But if non-players interested in this game have thoughts on the matter, they can share them in the comments! Voting will finish in five days, on the 18th of October, after which regardless of the result an event will happen. If you haven't voted by the 17th of October, you'll get an email asking you to vote before it closes. The majority at the time of closing will decide the result.

Universal bulletin board:

Thanks to Durrin, there is now an open subscription/invite bulletin board for characters’ use called OPERATION GET UNPARADOXSTUCK. The font reference page has been changed to reflect this.

You are still free to create your own bulletin boards for IC groups and plotting.

New sample application:

As our app formatting has gone through several changes, we have produced a new sample (player) app to better show what we’re looking for, as well as shed some light on the final player of the original six in Paradoxstuck’s session, Galeru, usually known as “the dead Space player”. We recommend that new applicants take a look, but, again, we will still accept any apps that were written using older formats.

One month anniversary!

ALRIGHT plot wrap up.

- The easter egg was ZELDA CHICKEN MODE. If attacked, all the consorts would have become Zelda chickens and attacked all players until calmed down with a purchase from the shop.

HINTS RECEIVED:

CONSORT HOME:

- The Dark ones from the Moon.
Derse agents attacking consorts for unknown reasons. <-- Via a purple blood accessing the area. Also accessed via talking to the shop keeper.

- The Source of the Water.
The Land of Gloom and Frogs is flooded from another location, not one native to the land. <-- Via a highblood accessing the area.

- The Necessary Items.
A list of quest items for solving the land. <-- If a low-blood accessed the area through another method.

- The Key Unforged.
An IRON KEY necessary to open the gates and meet the Mother must be reforged. <-- Achieved via further questioning.

THE EMPTY EXPANSE:

- The Eternal Burning.
There is an item that causes something to burn eternal. <-- Achieved if a low-blood arrives.

- The Resevoir.
The Reservoir is where the light lives. <-- If questioned further.

MYSTERIOUS SMALL CAVE:

- The Right Fuel.
The forge requires a certain fuel to work. <-- If given a delicious item from the shop.

- The Right Quest.
A list of the mythological items needed to solve LOGAF. <--- If the last part is completed. Requires the solution of the above quest and human clothing.

There were a couple of things that didn't happen. No high-blood went to The Empty Expanse, which would have triggered something. Other uses of power would have received unique responses.


IN SUMMARY:

"The Mother" can only be reached through a mighty quest. The stories foretell of a great hero who would cross the darkness and navigate the un-navigable to find her after saving the land of its woes, freeing it from the water that drowns it, the darkness that hides it, the gates that bar it, the fuel un-made, the forge un-lit, the key un-crafted.

The most important things are a key, some fuel, a lighter, a torch and dry land to stand on.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated quest, Derse agents are attacking Consorts.

Of course, you can only know this ICly if you did the quests or if it's shared with you by someone who did!


As it stands, LOGAF is unsolvable, however you are welcome to have your characters pursue any hints (including sharing or withholding the information from others). We're going to be hands-off with the plot, and we look forward to any player-developed events.

APPLICATION VERSION: HEY WE SHORTENED THINGS.

Thanks for all your feedback, we’ve condensed the application... Changes:

- SHORTER SAMPLE REQUIREMENTS

For the first person, you now only need fifteen character comments or a 200 word memo. If you are doing two action samples, you only need 125 words per sample!

- Condensed application description and targeted questions!

We combined all three application forms into one single description and we created three separate application textarea boxes so you’ll only need to answer the questions specific to your character type!

This will hopefully be the last change to the application page and all your previous forms are still valid!

- Do I have to use second person narrative and the fonts? Yes.

SO WHEN EXACTLY IS THE PLOT UP?
The plot goes up sometime on Saturday, EST and will run as long as people want to play in it! That’s Sunday for most of the Oceanic region!

We hope everyone enjoyed their first week and is a little settled in, for now it is time to talk... PLOTS.

LANDS:

There are six lands! Each land has two quests! First, there's the quest to solve the LAND'S UNIQUE PROBLEM and make the Denizen agreeable. Doing this allows you to access the DENIZEN QUEST. The frog planet is the last planet able to be solved (of course, you don’t know this yet.) When all six lands are solved, SPECIAL OPTIONS will appear. But we expect all six lands to take quite a while, and there's no rush.

What sort of quests?

Each land has a different focus, with different abilities required; Some will be combat orientated, others will be based on skills like puzzle solving! All lands are a co-operative effort, and no single person can succeed alone.

Moderators will handle NPCing and fight encounters.

So how can we get started?

We’ll make a post for the FROG PLANET at the end of this week where players can charge in, since right now the focus of the majority of the characters seems to be solving the frog problem. After that, we’ll respond to player choice- When you guys get together with an aim, poke one of the moderators over IRC or through the Mod Contact post and we’ll start the land. This is so players can pick and choose based on their character’s faction unity and which one appeals most to their characters! We want players to lead and make their own decisions.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

We'll toss in the occasional SPECIAL EVENTS to keep things lively. This might be a glitch affecting the functioning of the session, chances to advance the cause of Derse/Prospit, or something entirely new!

PLAYER PLOT:

We love naturally developed player plot. Just because we have lands with solutions doesn’t mean you have to seek those solutions. In fact, you’re welcome to create your own goals and inflict them on the game. Whether it’s creating a culling mob/viva la hemospectrum revolution, sticking the humans in a zoo, sabotaging the efforts to solve the plot, trying to become a leader, or general in-fighting! You don’t have to plan this out ahead- As long as you talk to the other players involved, go on as much of a mayhem spree as you so desire!

While the game has rails, there’s no reason the plot train can’t jump the tracks.

APPLICATION FORM 3.0

There's now a new, separate section for original aliens!
A minor shuffle of question order, and the removal of Fetch Modus and Preferred Drop-in point questions!

As before, if you have an older version of the application done, don't worry- All older versions are grandfathered in. You don't need to change it to apply, and if you're already accepted, you don't have to update any information.

TAGS:

Paradoxstuck now has a tag system! You'll find there's a tag for each character, and a tag for the land/planet your character is on.

When you post: Please use your character tag and whichever land your character is on at the start of the post. Add in lands if you start hopping around midthread
When you tag: Just use your character tag!


COPY AND PASTE:

We now have a copy and paste of the code. All the code. Memos, bulletins, actions and talking! You can also find it on the side bar for easy access.

PLAYER INITIATIVE:

In case you were wondering: We love it. Your character wants to make a play for leader, establish a sufferer cult/oppress the masses, make plans for land-solving? Go ahead and start developing that! Obviously you'll need to obey all the rules and what not, but we love seeing characters take initiative and organise with each other.

Hi, everyone! [livejournal.com profile] paradoxspace mods here, with a couple of announcements.

All six lands released!
Check out the full location list available to characters at the start of the game. Skaia is unavailable currently.


Applications update!
- We added a new question on which land you're going to arrive in.
- We added a new question on whether you're a Derse or Prospit dreamer.
- We updated the application descriptions in the personality section and universe sections, giving a few more examples of what we're looking for.
- We fixed the speech quirk and sample coding LJ broke in the copy+paste form, and now all codes should work!

We highly recommended you take a look at the new application information, and use the textarea copy+paste form!

If you have an older application form complete, and you really want to submit it without matching up to the new edition, that's allowed. We will not reject forms from the older sets, those without lands and Prospit/Derse, until September 1st. But remember to replace the coding on speech quirks and samples with typing code from here.


FAQ update!

We answered questions on what blood color you're allowed for trolls, how you can move to a different land once in the game, whether you can include art/images with your posts, an automatic new dreamself for all new arrivals (even those with killed dreamselves) and a change to the sburb titles allowing multi-syllablic classes!
